Description
From the famous Hunter Valley winery that was built by three Sydney-based solicitors including the now wine critic, James Halliday. This is a classic HV Shiraz, 100% sourced from their flagship Graveyard Vineyard and matured in 100% French oak.
Smells
Lifted red fruits and spice, ginger and earthy notes persist on the nose.
Tastes
Lovely mid depth colour with purple tints. Ripe fruit and low oak impact on the palate, with the new oak providing a slight vanillin sweetness complimenting the ripe fruit. The ripe red plums, cherries and spice lead into juicy tannins with refreshing acid gives a very long finish to the wine. This captures the essence of Hunter Valley Shiraz, typical medium bodied, spicey and with a leathery, earthy vein. Delicious drinking and will cellar for 5-6 years, serve with lamb or beef.
