Description
Church Road Winery, is known for being the first in New Zealand to craft quality wines and helped to pioneer the creation of the Hawke’s Bay wine industry. They have extensive vineyards throughout the Hawke’s Bay and use traditional techniques which have been evolved by working throughout the 1990s with winemakers from Domaines Cordier. 2020 was a superb vintage and the concentration and power resonate this top year and offer excellent value for money.
Smells
Brooding with dark berries, baking spice and dried herb.
Tastes
mouth-filling with bright red fruit, liquorice and lifted florals, excellent weight, and power throughout and great length. A very rich, concentrated wine with an exuberant depth of fruit, balanced by the dusty, chalky tannins. Best enjoyed with BBQed red meat. Drinking well now through 2026+
