Description

The Lioness of McLaren Vale Shiraz comes from Angus and Helen Tuck’s vineyard in the Bakers Gully sub-region of McLaren Vale. Here, mature Shiraz vines thrive in ironstone pebble-laden clay loam soils, underpinned by the ancient Kurrajong Formation geology—an ideal foundation for crafting exceptional Shiraz. Handpicked in mid-March, the grapes underwent whole-bunch fermentation with wild ambient yeasts in open-top fermenters. Winemaker Elena Brooks carefully managed hand plunging over 12 days before basket-pressing the wine into predominantly older French oak barriques (20% new), where it matured for 18 months. Bottled without fining or filtration, this Shiraz is pure, powerful, and characterful. Already the recipient of 1 Platinum medal and 8 Golds, this wine is gaining well-deserved acclaim. Don’t wait too long—it’s destined to become highly sought after!

Smells

Blackcurrants, concentrated blackberries, milk chocolate covered currants and spice.

Tastes

Smooth dark chocolate, black forest berries and cinnamon spice. Weighty and mouth filling with a velvety texture, beautifully concentrated and very smooth and moreish. Enjoy with hearty food with the presence to stand up to this Lioness between now and 2029. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
