Description

In 1993, Deutz and Delas Frères joined forces with the esteemed Roederer Group, a partnership that further solidified Delas Frères’ philosophy of quality and dedication. This collaboration marked a new chapter for the historic winery, founded in 1835. Their commitment to excellence was underscored in 2006 when they expanded their holdings, acquiring two significant parcels in Crozes-Hermitage, a move that has elevated their Crozes wines to exceptional status. In 2015, to celebrate their 180th anniversary, Delas Frères unveiled a state-of-the-art winery designed to ferment and craft the highest quality appellation wines. This investment reflects their rich history and forward-thinking approach, ensuring every bottle bears the hallmark of tradition, innovation, and expertise. The Cornas "Chante-Perdrix" 2020 (100% Syrah) stands out as one of the most powerful and expressive wines of the northern Rhône. It boasts a robust tannic structure with deep, rustic aromas that evolve into peppery and gamey notes over time. Crafted in the exceptional 2020 vintage, this wine is a testament to the winery’s legacy of tradition, knowledge, and pedigree. Impressive and bold, this is a must-try for lovers of classic Rhône wines.

Smells

a heady bouquet of blackberries, violets, red and black liquorice, white pepper, and smoky nuances.

Tastes

supple, smooth and seamless are words that spring to mind, endorsed by the dense core of fruit with fine grain tannins that frame the fruit, accounting for the superb balance of fruit and structure. There are layers of complexity, yet a freshness and with concentration, all allowing bottle development when stored in a temperature-controlled cellar. Stunning but needs 10-15years+ and will match with roast lamb or beef. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
