Description
Arguably New Zealand's finest Syrah, dollar for dollar, Elephant Hill always rates among the finest in the country, yet remains refreshingly accessible to most drinkers. 2020 shows all the gorgeous floral notes and peppery spicy characters, with a healthy dose of liquorice and dark fruits.
Smells
Fragrant leather, dark fruits, spice, sandalwood, violet and hints of lifted white pepper.
Tastes
Fresh, clean, and lifted, with beautiful purity of fruit and spice, supported by fine, grainy tannins, the finish goes long into the night. A great wine when young, this will be at its best around 5 years from vintage and keep from there. Made for roast beef or lamb with all the vegetable trimmings. For optimal drinking pleasure, the recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
