Description
Esk Valley’s new range, The Great Dirt Series, a celebration of the soils in which the vines grow. This single vineyard wine is produced from a small parcel of Syrah vines located on the corner of Gimblett Road and Highway 50, at the heart of the famed Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District. The Limmer clone vines were planted in 1996 in very stony Class 1a Omahu Stony Gravels. Yields are kept low and the vines intensively farmed in the pursuit of quality. There is incredible depth of fruit and complexity, a result of the soils and maturation for 14 months in 30% new French oak puncheons.
Smells
A heady perfume of black pepper, plums, darl cherries, sandalwood, dark chocolate and spice.
Tastes
Wonderfully deep, dark fruit resonates throughout the palate, with layers of woody complexity, and silky smooth tannins giving structure whilst softly encasing the juicy, vibrant fruit. There is a salivating nature that is alluring and making a second sip irresistible. Drinking well from 2024 through 2028 and an ideal partner to roasted red meats.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
