John Quarisa, or “Johnny Q” as he's known in the trade, is the current King of Australian value wine. His awards room at Johnny Q wines must be an embarrassment of Champion Trophies & Golds. This co-harvested, co-fermented blend of 95% Shiraz plus 5% splash of Viognier has its own stash of 5 Gold Medals and a Champion Trophy. Our Tasting Panel added a 95/100 rating. Made with fruit from the great Coonawarra & Limestone Regions in South Australia… the splash of Viognier lifts the aromas and vibrancy of the spicy Shiraz. 4-years old and drinking beautifully… fabulous quality v price. Johnny Q’s motto… “You just can’t take life too seriously”.
Smells
Generous red and black fruits on the nose, with hints of thyme, mint, liquorice, and chocolate.
Tastes
Silky and rich with liquorice, mocha, plum, berry and chocolate flavours flooding the soft, warming palate… this is benchmark value. 2020 was a particularly strong South Australian vintage and Johnny Q has captured that in this flavour packed red - enjoy with a nice cut of rump steak (flavour combination great) between now and 2028.
