Description
Langmeil Winery is home to The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, believed to be planted by vigneron Christian Auricht in 1843. Escaping war and persecution in Prussia, Auricht travelled to his new homeland, finding freedom in the Barossa Valley. The original plantings still survive and are some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world. And this scored a whopping 97 points by Huon Hooke, say no more, other than, don’t delay….
Smells
An intense aroma of ripe Satsuma plum, mocha, vanilla, and savoury notes combine with hints of cedar and sweet spices.
Tastes
Rich, sweet fruit is balanced wonderfully with briary and sweet spices and lovely, silky tannins. A full-bodied, textured wine, showing great complexity with hints of cedar and allspice flowing through to the lengthy, brambly fruit finish. Cellaring: 2024-2035+. Serve with all fine homemade roast meats and for optimal drinking pleasure serve at 16-17 degrees.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
