Description

Dreadnought refers to the steepest and most visually arresting parts of Man O' War's Waiheke vineyards and the vineyard names make telling reading: Madman's, Asylum, Lunatics... Dreadnought refers to the Royal Navy's motto for early 20th century battleships that their crews should "fear God and dreadnought." It's a supremely classy Syrah, rich and full bodied but with the elegance we love in cool-climate Syrah. Best consumed after an hour plus in a decanter our with at least 5 years bottle age.

Smells

Gorgeous dark fruited nose showing smoky, toasty aromas mingling with exotic Five Spice, mahogany, cardamom, pink peppercorns, violets and roses.

Tastes

Clean and darkly fruited on the palate, with suggestions of liquorice, blackcurrant, cherry, mulberry and plum, with complexity accentuated by delicate nuances of leather, dark chocolate and game. Balanced and powerful with fine, grainy tannins detailing the long finish, this wine is approachable now but will be at its best from 2025 onwards.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
