With 88% of the fruit sourced from their prized Gimblett road vineyard, it is a vibrant, fragrant Syrah at a great price. As NZ's oldest winery, Mission has been impressively consistent and a beacon of value since 1851. Adding to the picture is the fact this is a 2019, perhaps the best Syrah year in Hawkes Bay this century, bringing a class rarely seen, pristine, concentrated fruit with poise and precision, making this even more of a bargain.
Smells
Aromatic blueberry, graphite, white pepper, and clove.
Tastes
Juicy black fruit and spice with good concentration, the palate is elegantly medium-bodied and delivers a warm, spicy and berry-filled finish. Suave, chalky, fine grain tannins form the framework, all making for a superb mouthful with every sip. Drinking well now through 2026 and will partner well with roast lamb and all the trimmings.
