Description

Mount Langi Ghiran has built a reputation as a master of cool climate Shiraz, crafting wines that echo a European sensibility. Situated in Northern Victoria, their approach offers a refreshing divergence from the bolder Australian Shiraz styles, leaning instead toward the elegance of a Hawke's Bay Syrah.
The Billi Billi Shiraz serves as a gateway to premium Victorian cool climate wines, blending variety and vintage with an easy-drinking charm. The grapes are sourced from select cool-climate vineyards across Victoria, with a notable contribution from the Grampians region and the winery's Mount Langi Ghiran estate, home to the iconic Langi Shiraz. This Shiraz exemplifies refined structure and a nuanced palate, delivering vibrant fruit flavours balanced by spicy undertones and a hallmark of freshness. Whether enjoyed young or cellared briefly, it's a versatile, approachable wine that bridges the gap between everyday enjoyment and premium quality.

Smells

Complex savoury aromas of salty sea air, liquorice, brine, olives, and crushed herbs including a touch of mint all underpinned by cranberries, Chinese sour plums, and brown spice.

Tastes

Not your usual ripe, plush, juicy style typically found in Australia, but rather a wine with focus, refinement, and with deep layers of complexity. Flavours of black liquorice, black tea, black olives, and bramble charge across the palate with sublime, chalky, tannins and a slatey texture. Delicious and intriguing and definitely worth delving into the world of cool climate Aussie Shiraz, especially considering the modest price tag. Drinking well now through 2027+ and will match with roast lamb or beef superbly. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
