Description
Swartland has firmly established itself as South Africa’s most exciting and dynamic wine region, and this Syrah is a testament to its growing acclaim. Crafted with a focus on sustainability, the wine reflects a philosophy of farming in harmony with nature. Minimal intervention and wild yeast fermentation allow the wine to express its origins with authenticity and precision. The grapes are sourced from 6 distinct parcels across diverse soils, including decomposed granite, shale, and schist, with vines ranging from 19 to 26 years old. The result is a sophisticated and powerful Syrah, with a concentrated core of dark fruit and impressive structure. This wine promises to evolve beautifully in the cellar through 2029—if you can resist opening it sooner!
Smells
An array of spices and leather, with blackberry, violet and citrus peel.
Tastes
Juicy and very intense, it opens up in the glass, revealing its cellar potential and impressive structure. A long finish and supple tannins make it enjoyable now but with plenty of potential. The tannins simply build and build, and in fact is one of the best South African Syrah the Fine Wine Team has tasted. Serve with your favourite roasted red meats. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
