Description
An Australian wine icon since its inception in 1987, Stonewell represents the very finest red wine that Peter Lehmann can produce every year. While Peter Lehmann owns a vineyard called Stonewell in the Barossa, this is not a single vineyard wine, incorporating fruit from the west and north of the valley where the hard, dry soils lead to naturally low-yielding vines.
Smells
Deeply concentrated and brooding nose of liquorice, blackberry, cedar, warm earth, iron ore and exotic spices.
Tastes
Dense and lavishly concentrated with a dark core of sweet black fruit, fresh liquorice, and chalky tannins. A balancing freshness keeps the peace against the riotous fruit, and the finish is long and nutty with hints of espresso coffee. A great Stonewell from one of the greatest years the Barossa has seen - enjoy between now and 2035.
