The name Rod & Spur acknowledges the contribution of the growers who spend the cold Barossa winters hand pruning their vines in the traditional rod and spur method. A truly unique Australian red blend from the iconic Australian producer, this 2018 vintage doesn’t disappoint. A hot January and February gave way to a beautiful Indian summer perfect for these late ripening varieties. Right in the Rockford wheelhouse; showcasing rich fruit but with a sense of restraint and earthy complexity. Regionality but also tradition… It is looking just fine now, but will evolve further over the next 10+ years.
Smells
An irresistible nose, plums, chocolate, cassis with a savoury Rockford edge to it.
Tastes
A textural delight on the palate, fruit combines beautifully with the tannins, yet finishes soft and long. Enjoy with your favourite cut of beef on the BBQ.
