Description
Named The Davey for the vineyard of Shingleback founders John and Kym Davey, the brothers’ vineyards are run ultra-sustainably on land purchased by their grandfather in the 1950s. The wines that come off the plot are powerful and full-bodied, accentuated by the exceptional vintage conditions through the whole of McLaren Vale in 2016.
Smells
Dark chocolate and cedary oak, with blackberry, blueberry, liquorice and mulberry.
Tastes
Sweetly fruited with juicy, bright acidity balancing the sheer concentration and serious tannic structure. A wine to enjoy with hearty meats in its youth, it will repay cellaring through 2025 and beyond, mellowing and revealing further nuances.
