Description

Smith & Sheth continues to captivate the fine wine world with its unwavering commitment to excellence. At the helm are two visionaries: Steve Smith MW, a driving force behind Craggy Range's success, and Brian Sheth, a passionate American environmentalist with a deep appreciation for sustainable practices—and the resources to spare no expense in winemaking. Their 2021 Heretaunga Syrah showcases the best of Hawke's Bay, with fruit meticulously sourced from the prestigious Gimblett Gravels. This wine reflects both the vineyard’s unique terroir and the duo’s uncompromising pursuit of quality, resulting in a Syrah that’s powerful, elegant, and expressive.

Smells

This wine puts you in Hawkes Bay the second your nose is in the glass; classic aromas of white pepper, raspberries, fresh tobacco leaves and liquorice.

Tastes

there is a vibrancy and energy in this wine combined with the dense core of fruit with red and dark fruit flavours and a savoury herbal lift that is exciting and compelling. Toasty, vanilla and nutty flavours from the oak are in harmony with the pristine acid, giving drive and length. No rush to drink, will cellar for 4-5 years+ and perfect with rare duck breast salad. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
