Description
SOHO's Waiheke winemaking is handled by the charismatic James Rowan, his affinity with Syrah on clear display in this 2020 Valentina. 100% barrel aged in French and American oak, this wine is pure hedonism, "worthy of a Roman emperor" as SOHO say.
Smells
Fragrant perfume of violet, blackberry, raspberry, and leather. Still youthful and primary, and full of potential. With time in the bottle layers of complexity develop and it will be a showstopper.
Tastes
Lavish dark fruits, clove and cinnamon spice, the finish is exceptionally long and velvety. A beautifully spiced and fragrant wine with layered florals, while an earthen framework supports a brave, balanced and vivacious palate. Decant a bottle and fire up the grill with some venison cutlets. This gorgeous wine will make bad cooking look good and good cooking look positively Michelin! Enjoy young or cellar through 2028+
