Modestly yielded mature vine Barossa fruit classically crafted in quality French oak is fundamental to the almost peerless show success (sub $20 Shiraz category) Sandpiper Shiraz has enjoyed for over a decade. And this 2020 is another feather in their cap if tasting this wine is any indication. From a stellar vintage with the same excellent quality fruit and winemaking, resulting in a succulent, juicy style with fragrance and perfume, not over-ripe and jammy. Simply delicious.
Smells
Fragrant and perfumed aromas of rose petal, liquorice, nutty espresso, chocolate, and blackcurrant.
Tastes
Lovely and rich on the palate, with creamy textures and fine tannins framing black plum/berry fruit, coffee bean, dark chocolate, and spice flavours. Everything we love in a Barossa Shiraz, its prodigious value, and will drink well through to 2025. Perfect for any BBQ or with cheese and cured meats.
