Satirically named after the wooden fence made of stumps and tree limbs out front of Wirra Wirra, the grapes are taken from the warmer, earlier ripening blocks to give a voluptuous and generous style of Shiraz. Aged for 18 months in French and American Oak (40% new), it’s a seductive Shiraz that deserves and speaks of the McLaren Vale.
Smells
Seriously opulent and dark fruited with liquorice, blackcurrant, dark chocolate, and espresso.
Tastes
Superbly opulent with a solid core of mouth-watering dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and length to burn. A majestic red to enjoy young or cellar, this punches way above its price point and tastes every inch the flagship red. Try it with braised beef cheeks between now and 2030.
