New label, rebranding with a fresh new look, but still the same goodness within. DJL is a tribute to Dr John Lagan, the founder of Xanadu estate and one of Margaret River’s earliest Pioneers. From one of the region’s best vintages on record, Xanadu DJL is packed full of all the things we love about Margaret River Shiraz, at an accessible price point. Simply a stunning Shiraz, that shows many similarities to Syrah from Hawkes Bay and Northern Rhone, far removed from the typical Shiraz style of South Australia. If you align yourself with NZ Syrah, and seek new things, this is worth a go, and a bargain considering the quality inside the bottle.
Smells
haunting aromas of blackberries, mulberries, rose petals, rosehip, and Asian spice.
Tastes
deliciously layered with dark fruits, meaty complexity and a herbal infusion, all adding to this dynamic, stylish and engaging wine. Simply stunning and so far, removed from your average Aussie Shiraz, refreshing in its supple fruit, complexity, silky balanced tannins, and accessibility. One sip and we are sure you will agree that if given this wine blind, it would be hard to go for our Western neighbour. This is a must-try, now through 2028, with your favourite roasted red meats.
