Description
Uniquely Australian and simply delicious, Sparkling Shiraz is in a world of its own and nothing warms my heart more than the thought of a glass of Sparkling Shiraz on these cold winter months ahead. More than 128 years after Alexander Campbell Johnston planted his first small vine cutting, the Johnston family still produce estate grown wines and operate one of Australia’s oldest wineries- PIRRAMIMMA. For their inaugural Pirramimma Sparkling Shiraz, they selected fragrant cool climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz to blend with the richer McLaren Vale Shiraz, which provided the base wine more complexity.
Smell: the bouquet showcases red rose, spice, cherry, and mulberry, with hints of cedar.
Tastes: The palate is full and generous, showing great texture and mouthfeel, it displays liquorice, spicy black plum, red currant, and blackberry, with a tinge of pepper and finishing with dusty, toasty vanilla oak nuances. The finish is long and sustained, an ideal pre-dinner aperitif. Drinking well now through 2024.
