Description
Since 2003, DeMorgenzon, led by Wendy and Hylton Applebaum, has been striving to be one of South Africa’s best wineries—and they're definitely succeeding. Their stunning 2019 Reserve Chardonnay is the result of hot, dry weather in the Cape. Hand-picked grapes were whole bunch pressed and fermented in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak. The result is a rich, luxurious wine that will satisfy even the pickiest Chardonnay drinker.
Smells
A dense nose of grapefruit and orange zest, toasted hazelnuts and brioche.
Tastes
Rich, ripe, full of texture and flavour. Classic Chardonnay grapefruit and stone fruit adorned with vanilla and brioche. Fine on the palate with well balanced acidity. Drinking well now until 2028+. Best enjoyed with herb roasted chicken. For optimal drinking pleasure the recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
