Description
Joseph Faiveley premier Cru Champ Gain is a single-variety Chardonnay made by Domaine Faiveley under the AOC Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy, France. This is a Côte de Beaune Premier Cru that comes from a small plot with an exceptional terroir for Chardonnay where the soils are light and shallow giving rise to fine, elegant wines with grandeur and with persistent aromatics. Using sustainable viticulture their aim is to create the best quality and authenticity from each harvest as well as look after the environment, which is reflected in the diversity of flora and fauna that is found in these plots, a sign of good health.
Smells
the bouquet will entice with its delicacy, yet seductive aromas of white flowers, white nectarines and white peach, with subtle nuances of hazelnut, cashew and vanilla.
Tastes
There is force on the attack, speaking of a minerality, a linearity and concentration. The wine evolves in the glass revealing ripe stone fruits and hints of salted caramel. This is a glass act, that needs a few years in a temperature-controlled cellar. A wine that needs attention upon opening, serve with a fine feast based around rich, white meats and great friends. For optimal drinking pleasure, the recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
