Description
Pegasus Bay are a premium wine producer in the outstanding wine region of Waipara, roughly an hour North of Christchurch. Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris & Chardonnay grapes all excel in this wonderful grape growing country. They also produce the impressive Main Divide range of wines at exceptionally affordable prices. There are few Chardonnays in NZ delivering the body, complexity, quality and genuine pleasure sub $20/bottle like Main Divide. The label allows Pegasus Bay room for experimentation & winemaking wizardry, resulting in superior complexity and enjoyment, without the premium price tag. Crafted using old-world techniques, including wild fermentation and lees stirring to create wines of richness and intrigue, this latest 2023 Main Divide Chardonnay is impressive bang for buck indeed!
Smells
Abundant apricot & peach fruit aromas are complexed by subtle flinty, toast and spice notes.
Tastes
The palate is deliciously laden with rich stone fruits contrasted by subtle citrus freshness. Balanced acidity enhances length and poise while invigorating the tastebuds. A wonderfully creamy, buttery texture is complexed by a long, flinty, savoury finish with a hint of ginger spice. This is highly complex, highly enjoyable Chardonnay best between now and 2029.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
