Description
Named after Tim & Judy’s daughter Rosie, this organically certified vineyard block sits on a slightly higher elevation to the Home Block but only about 1km away. The 3rd vintage of this “World Class” special block Chardonnay, a classic single vineyard expression of what they call “Moutereness” - a complex combination of restrained and elegant savoury notes bound together by something reminiscent of a lazy, hazy summer evening. Rosie’s Block vineyard was planted on the now world famous “Moutere” clay soils… proven perfect for growing exceptional Chardonnay fruit. Hand tended from vine to glass… the low cropping grapes are handpicked, wild fermented, go through natural spring warmth induced malolatic fermentation. It is barrel fermented & matured in best French oak… then bottled unfined to preserve maximum character. The luxuriousness of Corton-Charlemagne with the saline minerality of Chablis. It will age beautifully through 2033+ if well stored.
Smells
Aromas of fresh white nectarine and grapefruit, with subtle white flower, savoury and oyster shell complexities.
Tastes
Creamy stonefruit floods the palate with underlying pink grapefruit adding vibrancy and contrast. Delicious nutty, brioche & spice complexities thread the luscious palate eventually melding into an elegant, lemon & saline tinged mineral finish. Perfect with Bluff oysters, pan fried scallops and blue cod.
