Description
At Sorrell, winemaking is a meticulous craft honed on a smaller scale, where every detail is carefully considered. From selecting exceptional parcels of land and fostering deep relationships with growers to hand-picking grapes and tasting each barrel, the process ensures that every wine reflects its unique character and origin. Sorrell’s philosophy revolves around honouring traditions, respecting the land, and celebrating the hard work poured into every vineyard. By using indigenous vineyard yeast fermentations, their wines achieve elevated flavour profiles, structured intensity, and a profound connection to their terroir. The Wrekin Chardonnay exemplifies this dedication. From an organically managed vineyard, the grapes were 100% hand-picked and gently whole-bunch pressed to retain purity and finesse. After a settling period in tank, the juice was racked and inoculated with native yeasts from The Wrekin vineyard itself, then transferred to French barriques—without any new oak to let the vineyard’s essence shine. In the spring, malolactic fermentation occurred naturally, and the wine matured for 18 months on lees, developing stunning complexity, elegance, and depth.
Smells
A complex array of toasted nuts, lees and smoky tones overlay a purity of stone fruit, white peach with a citrus backbone.
Tastes
Crisp and pure. The vibrant acidity offers lively structure to the wine’s weight and texture, citrus pith, stone fruits and spice leave a long delicate finish. A true expression of the grapes and the place in which they grew. No hurry to drink as it will cellar 5 years+. Serve with fresh fish or other white meats. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
