Description

Starborough Wines is a 100% family-owned estate, now led by James and Andrew Jones, who oversee the land from bud to bottle. The journey began in 1864 when William Jones, a ploughman from Hereford, sailed to New Zealand aboard the Eagle Speed in search of adventure. After an unsuccessful stint in the goldfields, he turned to farming in Marlborough, unknowingly setting the stage for future generations. The Awatere Valley has since become a vital thread in Marlborough’s wine story, producing wines unlike any other in the world. When the time came to plant vines, the Starborough name was embraced—symbolising the heritage, values, and traditions of four generations of the Jones family in Marlborough.

Smells

aromas of ripe peaches, nectarines and citrus zest.

Tastes

A full and concentrated Chardonnay with complex flavours of ripe citrus and yellow stone fruits. The textures are fine, and the flavours are mouth filling with a strong core that carries to a full, citrus and nutty finish with lemon-curd and toasty oak. Drinking well now through 2027, serve with white meats or vegetarian dishes. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
