Description

The Tohu Awa Upper Awatere Chardonnay 2020 stole the spotlight, earning top wine from all judges at the Fine Wine Annual Chardonnay Tasting, a truly outstanding Chardonnay with broad appeal. As the world’s first Māori-owned wine company, Tohu Wines has been dedicated since 1998 to crafting estate-grown, single-vineyard wines that honour both terroir and tradition. This exceptional single-vineyard Chardonnay is sourced exclusively from the Awa Block of the Whenua Awa Vineyard, delivering a pure expression of place and heritage.

Smells

Enticing aromas of smoke, freshly buttered toast, grapefruit, nectarines, melons with brioche and nougat nuances and delicate toasty French oak.

Tastes

Rich concentrated ripe stone fruit flavours with toasty, vanilla and smoky nuisances. There is perfect harmony between the ripe fruit, racy, lemon acidity with an exciting elegance to this wine combined with the finely woven oak flavours adding, depth and complexity, and with a finely chiselled and detailed finish. A stunning Marlborough Chardonnay that could age for 4 years+ or offers excellent drinking now. Enjoy with roasted white meats. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
