Taylors Pass vineyard is considered one of the crown jewels in the Villa Maria portfolio. A vineyard where all it grows is gold, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Situated on the northern banks of the Awatere Valley where typically the Awatere is cooler and windier than the Wairau Valley due to its close proximity to the ocean. Taylors Pass however is sheltered resulting in a warm meso-climate, perfect for ripening each and every one of these varieties. This 2022 Chardonnay highlights the class of this vineyard, producing a pure, focused, and mineral style.

Warm notes of peaches and cream, grapefruit, wholemeal biscuits, citrus peel, green melon with hints of fennel and layers of dusty, toasty and vanilla oak.

A gorgeously constructed palate that flows with vibrancy, energy and electrifying acidity that sings the length of the tongue. Flavours of yellow guava, grapefruit, lemons, white nectarine flesh out the mid-palate with a creamy, buttery texture, titillating the taste buds, all invigorated by the crystalline acid thread. No rush to drink as 3-4 years in a temperature-controlled cellar will lead to greater complexity. The perfect partner to fresh seafood or vegetarian pasta cuisine.
