Description
While the Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge is well known to Kiwis, we think more Kiwi wine drinkers, particularly those who like Pinot Gris, should be getting on board with the Cotes du Rhone Blanc. This 2021 vintage retains the classic house style of Viognier dominance (60%) with smaller amounts of Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc.
Smells
Gentle aromatics of orange blossom, with the classic characters of Viognier; canned apricots, underpinned by honeysuckle, white peach and lavender.
Tastes
Dry to taste but with a lovely viscosity and richness to the palate, the wine has a harmonious character to it, with a hint of summer, like chewing on fresh straw to compliment the peach and apricot fruit flavours. A truly lovely wine that provides an affordable look at the Guigal house style. A perfect partner with pork belly or roast chicken, drinking well now and for the next year or two.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
