Description
From a section of the Clos de Ste Anne vineyard known as ‘La Bas,’ that loosely translates to ‘over there.’ The winemaking takes place in 600-litre demi-muids barrels, where very little is done to the wine, except for discouraging malolactic fermentation to retain the famous chipped stone, slatey minerality that Chenin Blanc does so well.
Smells
A waxy, floral nose showing honeycomb, pears, quince paste, lanolin, and starched linen.
Tastes
Dry on the palate, the texture is utterly thrilling, the savoury acidity and austere dry textured tannin are refreshing, while a quince-like fruit flavour gives lift and great length to the overall taste. This wine will evolve beautifully, and gain honeyed richness, over the next dozen or so years. In the world of wine, this Chenin Blanc has its own place. A superb example of Chenin Blanc with a style that’s all it's own. Enjoy between now and 2030 if well cellared.
