Description
Millton wines are made biodynamically and organically, with winemaker and founder James Millton acting as something of a mentor to other would-be naturalists in NZ winemaking. He describes his vineyard philosophy as not 'fighting dis-ease, but farming ease'... comparing spraying a vineyard to taking an aspirin every morning to ward off headaches. The original vineyard was planted in 1978 and in 1997 this vineyard was replanted with Viognier, amongst the first commercial plantings of this exotic variety in New Zealand. No longer Riverpoint as this part of the vineyard has now been sold, long live Clos Samuel…
Smells
Poached pear and warm croissant give a spiced and sappy appeal.
Tastes
A haunting wine with bristling delicacy, buoyed by a noted mineral edge. The salinity sings the proximity of the vineyard to its maritime environment. A wine speaking of its varietal typicity, unctuous, rich and creamy in nature. The aromatic delight of Viognier will enhance and partner foods high in Umami flavours. Drinking well now through 2028 and for optimal drinking pleasure serve between 10-13 degrees.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
