Description
The fruit for this Pinot Gris comes from free-draining gravel river terraces shaped by the Ngaruroro River, with vineyards in Maraekakaho and Mangatahi. These sites benefit from a balance of warm days and cool nights, fostering optimal ripening conditions for high-quality grapes. With vines nearing 20 years of age, meticulous vineyard management ensures fruit concentration and complexity. In its youth, the wine showcases vibrant aromatics but also has the structure to develop further, rewarding cellaring for up to four years.
Smells
White blossom, subtle honeysuckle, white peach, and pear.
Tastes
A very full, and rich Pinot Gris, with the extended lees ageing, helping to provide good texture. Ripe stone fruit, and sweet citrus are balanced by soft, spice providing good length. The ideal match for soft cheese or summer salads. The recommended serving temperature is 8-10 degrees.
