Description
Florita’ is Spanish for ‘little flower’. Located fifteen kilometres south of Clare township in the tiny village of Watervale. Initially, this famous Riesling vineyard was planted with Palamino in 1946 destined for Fino Sherry, luckily replanted with Riesling in 1962. The birthplace of famous wines such as Leo Buring Watervale Riesling. Florita was first released by Jim Barry Wines in 2004, a micro-batch Riesling made from grapes, hand-selected from individual rows. This 2016 library release has been carefully cellared by the Jim Barry team, to highlight and display the complexities that fine Australian Riesling develops over time. And it will still develop for a further 5 years+, the results will be truly remarkable and well worth the wait, if you can resist.
Smells
a perfumed bouquet of kaffir lime, manuka honey with hints of lime marmalade, and still retaining hints of wet stones layered with mineral veins.
Tastes
the palate commands respect from the moment it touches your taste buds. The complexity due to 8 years bottle age and the mineral backbone framed with citrus rind, lime sorbet, white flowers, and honeysuckle. The power raptures the senses, yet has harmony, balance, and poise. Drinking well now and will cellar well for a further 5 years+. Serve with fresh seafood.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
