Description

This 2024 Palliser Riesling continues the legacy of one of New Zealand’s great white wine bargains, offering remarkable quality at an accessible price point. Known for its ability to cellar gracefully for 5-8 years, it gains complexity with age but is equally delightful to enjoy in its vibrant youth. The wine's journey begins with a ferment in barrel using native vineyard yeasts, complemented by a tank portion retaining 13.5g/L of residual sugar for balance. A further two months on lees builds texture and depth before bottling. Off-dry in style, this Riesling is luscious and bright, bursting with juicy citrus notes of mandarin and lemonade. A chalky, grippy mouthfeel adds texture, while a tangy, subtly bitter finish refreshes the palate, evoking the charm of a classic gin and tonic—all at a modest 11% ABV. Perfect for pairing with light dishes or sipping on its own, this is a standout Riesling not to be missed!

Smells

Beautiful honeysuckle, lime, and mandarin with touches of jasmine florals, hints of wet stone and chalk, and incredibly enticing aromatics.

Tastes

Gorgeously textured, showing its 6 months ageing on lees, the word minerality springs to mind, just as your saliva glands kick in from the racy acidity, refreshing the taste buds, all the result of the long, pure, limey finish. Gorgeous as an aperitif, it will only grow in complexity through to 2028 and beyond if well cellared. A sensational combo with all ethically caught NZ seafood. The recommended serving temperature is 6-8 degrees.
