Description
Few people think Sauvignon Blanc when they think Martinborough, but the few producers who focus on it make some pretty sensational wines almost every year. Ata Rangi makes a highly textural style with clean, gentle acid and a nice leesy, slightly creamy texture. Freshly packaged in a brand new bottle, with the truly befitting name of "Te Wa" which means ‘time and place' in Maori. It has layers upon layers of attraction all balanced together perfectly. An outstanding wine in anyone's language, with portions of skin contact and barrel fermentation, creating a complex and textural expression of Sauvignon and will develop nicely over the first 5 years from vintage.
Smells
Kiwifruit, lemon zest, lime, flint, and a hint of nutty mealiness.
Tastes
The minerality is a bit more pronounced than the nose suggests, which perfectly complements the green lime and kiwifruit character of the wine. The texture is delightfully chalky with a subtle creamy character. A great wine for drinking young, but also an excellent candidate to show just how well New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc can develop in a cellar. Enjoy with cheeses and cured meats or NZ fresh seafood, anytime and anyplace.
