Jean-Charles and his wife, the eponymous Marguerite, finally found the piece of paradise they were looking for in Marlborough in 1998. After patient observation of the climate and land they began close-planting grapes in 2000 before building a winery on site in 2005. Their Sauvignon Blanc has an almost cult following, and their Pinot Noir is always made in what might be termed a very 'French style', with emphasis on herbal and savoury complexities found in the great Pinot Noirs of Burgundy.
